WARMC Presents Nursing Excellence Award to Joseph Trusow
7/28/2025
Western Arizona Regional Medical Center’s ICU charge nurse Joseph Trusow has received the Nursing Excellence Award for Community Health System’s Region 2.
Trusow was awarded WARMC’s Nursing Excellence Award in December, and received the Regional honor in July. This is the first time a WARMC nurse has received the regional Nursing Excellence honor, representing nurses in 16 hospitals in its region. Several nominations were submitted for Joseph from fellow nurses and a physician. Praise from nominators included the following comments:
- On many occasions Joseph has taken the time to reassure, educate, and compassionately deal with patients and their families while they are sometimes dealing with one the most difficult days of their lives.
- Kind, intelligent, great leader, great R.N.
- Joseph is a calm, great resource during Rapid Response.
- Team player, the ICU runs smoothly when he is working.
- Joseph makes it his mission to always collaborate with and lift up his fellow team members.
He started his healthcare career as a CNA, and worked as a telemetry technician during nursing school. Trusow became an RN during the peak of COVID, and felt he found his calling in critical care.
“I love to learn. Critical care puts you to the test, bringing complex etiologies that challenge you to grow. But I enjoy those complexities,” he said. “I believe every patient deserves individualized, exceptional care .To see someone at their slickest, and then be part of the care that helps them recover; that’s what makes this work so meaningful. That’s what makes it all worth it.”
A lifetime resident of Bullhead City, Trusow was born at WARMC, and went to Mohave High, where he played in the marching band. These days, in his down time, Joseph enjoys spending time outdoors with his family, at the river or off-roading.
"I want to thank my support system; especially my girlfriend Caroline. She is my rock. Without her love and support, I could not do what I do."
